About

Hello families! My name is Emily and I am so blessed to have been able to connect with so many great families over the past 9+ years and start my babysitting service, Sugar Plum Sitting! Every child leaves an imprint, every family a memory and for me, this is all the motivation I need to continue providing the best child care I possibly can while remembering all of the "little things" that make the biggest impact with every unique family.

I have been caring for and helping families from all different backgrounds and needs for the last 9+ years consistently beginning in my hometown in Southern Florida under the gentle guidance of my wonderful parents. My mother, a professional daycare employee and homeschooling teacher of 3 children for 10+ years and my father, an Airforce retiree who is now a full-time Executive Pastor who served his first several years as a Pastor in Children and Family Ministries. All 3 of us children were involved at an early age with working in nurseries, staffing childcare for church events and the normal every weekend babysitting jobs for congregation members. I have continued steadily doing more babysitting, lessons and being a household help throughout the last 9+ years and pride myself on the vast experience I've been able to absorb.

My experience includes multiple children (5+, twins, etc.), children with special needs and dietary restrictions, newborns and infants, and of course teenagers ;). Working in a high-traffic nursery and day care environment combined with years of fast paced work environments, I am able to handle chaos with an impeccable sense of patience and kindness while maintaining control. I have also volunteered with the Special Olympics for 3+ years and have experience with children with disabilities from learning disorders to more attention sensitive disabilities like Autism and Downs Syndrome. I have a clean background and motor vehicle check, valid inspection on my vehicle, and valid license and car insurance.

I have been involved in art most of my life, entering and winning competitions from a young age, producing mirals that took months of detailed attention in churches and schools and even getting the chance to be involved in illustrating a childrens book in Southern Florida. My love of art also was sparked through my father, who while creating beautiful, room-length mirals, taught me the basics of the human form with sketching many years ago accompanied by years of advanced art lessons.

I believe above everything else that my #1 job is exceed expectations with child care. My job is to take care of your children as safely, kindly and responsibly as I can, along side their parents- not as their parents. Every family has different methods, choices, and beliefs. By learning your parenting style and learning your child's needs and interests, I can personalize a great child care experience for the whole family. As always, every family is unique and so is their situation. Please do not leave Sugar Plum Sitting without having any question unanswered or any idea unheard! I love my community and I love my families and I take everything I hear to heart. Thank you!
